«El arte es una labor.»

Mario Rojas Kolomiets is a Costa Rican artist and professor of painting and drawing.

Born in 1984 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Lives and works in Costa Rica.

At the beginning of his career, Mario Rojas Kolomiets represented in his artworks his own emotional experiences and how they influence an individual.

Later the artistic message of his paintings moved from being individual to psychological and social, properly representing the Western consumer society in which he lives.

The problem of modern societies worldwide is that people yield to "social values" when striving to gain power and pleasure, but such "social values" or so called "social morality" very often stay way aside from true values in people's lives. This dissonance creates the source of inspiration for the artist nowadays.

The artist believes that people's ego and desires are concepts imposed by a society - that's why their true individuality is in conflict with their ego.

He expresses his ideas in a very symbolic conceptual style at the same time using academic techniques.
