Andrei Gaidar is an artist, who lives to create. Painting is his world, his universe, where the paints and brushes are only the tools for transmission of everything inspired by his fertile imagination. Fairytale should be regarded as the main trend of his works. The leading genre is portrait.
His first personal exhibition was in Poland in 1991, the two following took place also there in 1992. The works of the young painter were acknowledged by the Warsaw Academy of Arts, where he studied throughout 1993-1994. He took part in 10 Republican and 6 All-Ukrainian exhibitions (Kyiv, Sumy, Zaporozhie, Nikolaev). Twice the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, where he had studied from 1990 to 1996 and took post-graduate course throughout 1996-2000, arranged personal exhibitions for him in Kyiv. In 1996 he took part in the International Exhibition "Art Expo 96" in Budapest (Hungary). Frequent exhibitions abroad contributed to the growth of his popularity in the countries of Western Europe, USA and Canada.
A mobile painter though he is, Andrei Gaidar prefers the style "modern", originated supposedly in Austria. Integrating different styles, "modern" tends to create his own system of symbolic, plastic, composition scheme and combination of colors. The leading bearers of him artistic program and aesthetics are decorative principles, line and forms. This style gives the particular attractiveness to his works. Richness of paints, skilful play with colors, unique coloring of each painting are the distinctive features of his work.
